How Is Global Warming Effecting Your Pet?

I handpicked this emotional ad called "Explicit Global Warming Commercial" because of the horrific tragedy about various animals giving up on life, because of extreme heat caused by global warming. The ad tried to persuade humans to cut down on C02 gas emissions in the air because it is killing the animals. This ad shows emotions such as guilt, passion, fear and sadness.

The ad had the emotion of guilt, because they were trying to blame the deaths of the animals on you. While, making you guilty, the ad also shows why you should feel bad for the world and the animals. In the ad it had the quote "If you give up, they give up" which means that if you do not contribute to preventing global warming, then the animals will kill themselves.
Because of the solemn music being played in the background, and the slow camera angles that intentionally zoomed into the animals face that brought out sadness. Because now I understand how much I don't do to make their lives better.
The ad also stirs the emotion of passion. Because after watching hopeless animals commit suicide and leaving it to blame on you, you find passion somewhere inside of you. The passion motivates you and drives you to make a change. Along with guilt and passion, the emotion "fear" is also effective in this ad. Because of fear of countless animals dying, you are afraid that your very own pet can die just because of global warming.

Last, but not least this commercial ad expressed the emotion of utter sadness. Because of the sound effects and the monotone background voice, and the tears on the animated animals you get sad because of the bad things that global warming does to them. It also persuades people, because now they can be more empathetic by "putting themselves in the animals shoes".

  1. This is an excellent post, Gershwin. I agree with you that the music is a very powerful element that contributes to the emotion. Do you know anything about the organisation that put together the ad. I would be interested to hear what their mission is?

    1. Yes, I understand that there is a "Green Army" which is inviting persons like ourselves to join so we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions effectively. The website is www.protectterra.org if you're interested.
